The Village of Winston Park

 Long Term Care Home

The Long Term Care Home has a total of 95 beds that are licensed through the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.  We are proud to have received the highest accreditation award from CCHSA which is a 3 year accreditation.

The Village of Winston Long Term Care is licensed by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and funded through the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) via the Long-Term Care Home Service Accountability Agreement (L-SAA) - LINK TO PDF FILE HERE.

The main floor has two 30 bed units, West - Trussler Home area and North - Newberry Home area.  On the main floor we have a café area for residents and their visitors to sit and have a cup of coffee while enjoying the view which overlooks the daycare playground next door.  We also have a living room, country kitchen, family room / palliative care room on the main floor.  The lower level is a 35 bed Special Care Unit - Eby Home area.  This Special Care unit is designed specifically for the care of residents with Dementia.  The Special Care unit has both an indoor circular wandering path, a main lounge, an activity/music room and a palliative care room.  The main entrance to the Special Care Unit is covered with a beautiful garden mural.

Our Special Care Unit - Eby Home Area also has an outdoor garden area which allows those residents who wander to enjoy the freedom and safety of a wandering garden path with a covered patio.  The Main Floor also has a covered patio and residents can enjoy the nice days outdoors visiting with family, or participating in outdoor activities.

Our rooms include a range of basic (two residents per bedroom, four residents share the bathroom), semi-private (two residents per bedroom, two share the bathroom), and private accommodations.  We encourage residents and families to decorate their room to make it as home like as possible.

Our Kitchen team is Number # 1!  We boast three red-sealed chefs on staff, qualified, dedicated dietary aides and a well-rounded management team.  The facility has four dining rooms, one in each home area.  There are several rooms that we use for catering and we have an ample, well-equipped kitchen.  We aspire to three sets of standards when considering the operations of the dietary department:  The Ministry of Long Term Care, ORCA and The Department of Health all set standards that drive the creation of our menus, work routines and delivery of service.   Our Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement programs ensure that we constantly strive to maintain excellence.

We operate from one central kitchen.  The home-made fare is sent from the kitchen to the four dining rooms and meals are served in a friendly, comfortable manner.  The menu runs on a four-week rotation, two choices per meal, with the addition of seasonal foods, holiday favourites and special dinner events often.  We offer catering services to our resident and their families and we have hosted many community groups, training sessions and educational seminars.  Guests are welcome for all meals with 24-hour notice.  Come!  Check us out! There's always room for another chair at our table!
